Make A Difference

 Kalyn at a blog I follow has been doing a Monday morning series called Coffee and Conversation. I decided to join in!

"What does it mean to you to have made a difference in this world? What are you doing to achieve that change, and how has it been made possible?"

When I think of people who have made a difference in the world, I usually think of people who have done big, grand things. Mother Teresa type people, who have devoted their lives to making a difference in our world. Missionaries also come to my mind when I think of this topic. They drop everything to move to a foreign land and they are many times risking their lives to tell people about Jesus (the one who can make the biggest difference in this world). 

Now, I am no missionary and I don’t plan to be one in my life. I am far too comfortable in my own little world. The great news is... I can make a difference in the world right where I am in life! In fact I have chosen a profession (for which I will get my degree in December... ahhhhhh!) that allows me to make a difference in the world every. single. day. I wholeheartedly believe the age-old saying “Children are our future.” As a teacher I have the ability to make an impact on many young children. A child who may one day become president, or one who might be the pastor of a church that reaches millions, or even just a little girl who becomes a stay-at-home mom. No matter what my students become one day, I believe that my job as an educator makes a huge difference in the world because it makes a difference in a child’s life. 

I feel great knowing that I don’t have to go across the world or change my life drastically to make a difference in the world. I have chosen a rewarding career, that I love and that allows me to make a difference in what is one of the most precious things on earth.... KIDS!
