Happy Tuesday! It is an extra happy Tuesday for me because as you read this I am starting my first day of student teaching! I have been looking forward to this last step in my journey to becoming a teacher for a long time! After four months of student teaching I will leave with a diploma in December! Then onto applying for jobs and substitute teaching until the next school year! So exciting and so unreal!
On the topic of teaching, two of my favorite bloggers Nicole and Jamie started a teacher link-up! What a cool idea and you can bet I will be joining in! For the first month I am just going to introduce myself as a teacher!
Where I teach: I am student teaching for 16 weeks at a small elementary school in Missouri. I will be in a second grade classroom and am so excited to get to know the precious kiddos!
Why I teach: I teach because children are truly my passion. I have always had a special place in my heart for young children and love spending time with them. I wanted to teach high school English until I took a job at a child care center and fell in love with the little ones! Since my first week working with younger kids, I knew that I wanted to teach. I worked with the four year olds after school until the center closed in the evening. Most people who had previously had the position, would just take the kids outside for an hour and then have them free-play inside until they went home. I on the other hand planned activities for them, did center rotations, read books, did crafts and so much more. My boss commented on how I was meant to be a teacher because of how I ran the room. I love seeing kid's faces light up when they learn something new and how they are just so incredibly open to anything. When I get up in front of a classroom full of kiddos and teach a lesson, I just know that is where I am meant to be! It is a profession I can come home everyday feeling proud of and also knowing that I truly made a difference in multiple life's!

It sounds like you will just love second grade! It truly is the more magical of years in my opinion . They are so full of energy and curiosity :) Best of luck in your adventure!
First off... YAY that we are partners!!! :) I need to email you soon! I hope that you LOVED today! I student taught in second grade and I'm now teaching second grade and it is definitely such a fun age group! I had a similar experience with young, pre school kids. There is nothing like pre-k. :) I hope you had a wonderful day!
Can't wait to hear how your week has gone! Hope it's everything you ever dreamed! Love you!
I student taught in the fall and then subbed for the second semester and I loved it! It make job searching so much less stressful and I feel like it was a great transition into full time teaching. I hope you are loving your student teaching so far!
I am also student teaching this semester with hopes to graduate in December :) I'm with a departmentalized fourth grade teaching reading and I am very excited! I'm excited to keep up with your blog as we both tackle this last leg of our degree!
